PROJECT 8: LIVE PERFORMANCE AND AWARDs NIGHT 2013

Tick, Tack! Time is unforgiving. Finally, it came to the final studio project of first semester- live performance. It is a closing ceremony for our Sem I studio life and held at the Dewan Kuliah D in USM. So touching... T.T

We need to organize a special event as a ‘closing ceremony’ to our one-semester ‘learning-by-doing’ studio life. The event involves a series of live performances by 7 major-based groups, multimedia presentation, award giving ceremony, and a farewell dinner.
The theme for the Performance Night is ‘The Lost Kingdoms’. In line with the theme, each major-based group should represent the specific Nusantara kingdoms as follows:
i.Architecture – Srivijaya
ii.Interior Design – Singhasari
iii.Urban & Regional Planning – Langkasuka
iv.Quantity Surveying – Majapahit
v.Building Surveying – Pagaruyung
vi.Building Technology – Mataram
vii.Construction Management – Riau Lingga

For this purpose, we need to ‘design’ and wear the costumes that can reflect their respective kingdom to the event. Each major-based group should come up with its own
sub-theme (or concept) of the 10 minutes Live Performance that is relevant to the stipulated main theme.

During the preparation of our Kingdom Costume, Our lovely Master, Dr. Mazran treat us KFC. Feeling Blessed~ :)

PROJECT 7: EXHIBITION

Time Flies. Unwittingly, we have done 6 projects in our Semester I. Now is the day of Exhibition! All of our hardship, sweat and tears are here, In the drum! This Exhibition was also a part of our studio work, that's Project 7.

All groups will be responsible to design 5 Exhibition Booths (4 major-based group to exhibit the best studio works of their members and 1 integrated group to display the integrated-group studio project (Project 6) during this semester). The design of each booth and exhibition area at the DRUM should be based on the stipulated ‘RUS104 2013/2014 Exhibition’ theme: ‘FLOATING LINES’. Besides the major task to design the booth (with any possible materials) based on the ‘FLOATING LINES’ theme, each major also needs to design and provide a ‘BANNER’ (sized 10’ x 2’) that shows the name of the major and year.

During preparation.. Our theme: Floating Lines

Our Architecture Booth

Building Surveying & Building Technology Booth

Quantity Surveying & Costruction Managment Booth

Urban Planning & Interior Design Booth

Delight and Happiness overwhelmed me as most of my project works are selected for exhibition. It's my honour and opportunity to present my works to the public. :D

 Finally.

TIME TO RELAX - RUS104 1ST SEM LANGKAWI ACADEMIC TRIP

We had an academic trip to Langkawi Island on 23-25th November 2013 and this is compulsory part of RUS104. Although I have been to Langkawi before, I still feel excited  as it's a great trip with all my coursemates.
Travel is always a good thing. Sometimes, people should have a travel, to the sea, to the mountain, besides hustle and bustle of city life.

This is the sketches I drawn at Langkawi. But Unfortunately, most of our sketches left in the hotel so our sketches didn't submit to lecturer. :(

Quite ashamed pose~ >.<

We Are Brothers~~
Do you notice? A extreme tall guy at the middle. We met him on the way.

Crazy Brothers And "Sisters"~ XD

~ Good Bye Langkawi ~ :)

PROJECT 6: INTEGRATED PROJECT: DESIGN OF AMPHITHEATRE STAGE

 [COMPLETED!]
100%

PROJECT ISSUED: 28 OCT 2013     SUBMISSION DATE: 09 DEC 2013 9.00AM.
TIME PERIOD: 6 WEEKS

An amphitheatre is an open-air venue that is usually used for entertainment and performances. In other words it means a place of viewing amphitheatre with an open-air stadium which is surrounded by the open-air seating area for the audience. An amphitheatre can induce the public to become closer to each other through the events organised.

12 groups of RUS104 need to design a comprehensive studio project that includes the aspects of site analysis, architectural and interior design, structure and material selection, simple costing, project management, and construction technique of the scale size building (model). Therefore we have to come up with an amphitheatre, we have planned and designed a stage that looks simple yet modern and contemporary.

In first week we have visited the site to feel the vibe of the place. After visiting our site, we have known the direction of wind, sun path and the contour of the site.

Site Analysis
Sun Orientation, Wind Pattern& Noise
Sky Surfer Production is selected as our company name as surfing up in the air may seem impossible but it has been proven that it is indeed possible to go sky surfing. In other words our company is able to do the seemingly impossible tasks
Sky Surfer Production

Each and every one of us from our group were asked to think of a concept and design of the amphitheatre stage based on our own concept. For My design, I have design a few of relevant concept on amphitheatre stage.

Based on all of our designs, Our studiomaster, Dr. hafizal selected some of the design which is better and look awesome. They are the wave, violin and paper design for our amphitheatre stage. Afterward, I managed to modified the design into better amendment for my violin and paper concept amphitheatre stage.

After the discussion with our studio master, Dr. hafizal recommended we use paper concept design as our stage but few amendments are needed. The roof is connected to the floor of the stage by a column like structure which protrudes out of the roof and this form the support system to the roof. The roof is made up of five pieces of paper at which three of it is made up of timber and two of it is made up of glass and no glass will be laid on top of the roof. Few amendments had been made where an LCD screen will be added to conceal the beams connecting the roof and the floor of the stage. As for the walls, the outer wall will be a complicated-looking wood structure and the intermediate wall will be painted black. Whereas maze design will be used as a form of decoration for the inner wall and decorated using LED lights. The main material for the stage is made up of timber.
Finally, The Final Design is coming out.

After that,  the presentation drawings of the proposed amphitheatre stage design which consists of  Key Plan, Location Plan, Site Inventory, Conceptual Design sketches, relevant bubble diagrams, Site Plan, Floor Plan, Elevations, Horizontal, Longitudinal Sections, 3 Details of structural joints, 3 Perspectives drawings is drawn.

Technical problems occurs on 1st A1 presentation drawing. So the site plan doesn't look nice.

2nd A1 presentation drawing is nicer.

I have included the most in 3rd presentation drawing. This is the most I prefer. :)

Finally, We done for project 6A & 6B. Feel a little bit dissapointed and slightly irritated for the works. We may fail dr. Hafizal due to few problems occurs during this period and we learned a lot of lessons in this project.  Scales, Dimension, construction, layout should be highlighted. My apologies for my sucks design. I really feel ashamed on this project. Another things is teamwork problems. But anyway,  in this period, really a happy moments when carrying our works. Appreciate to friends which always corporate and stand beside each others and helping. We support each others and keep fighting!
My Awesome Group members~ :)

MODEL-MAKING OF AMPHITHEATRE STAGE
After the proposal, we proceed to the model making. This gonna be a big project. The scale for the model is 1:5, therefore our model was estimated to be 1.2m (length)x 1.0m (width)x 1.0m (height). Timber and glass are our main materials for making a stage. Model-making our amphtheatre cost us a lot of money. It could be said that our stage model cost nearly one thousand. >.<
~Model-making is in the progress~ Our narcissistic Ah moi still  wont forget to take a photo. :)

After a long period of torturing.......

Tra, Tra!!!!
The concept on the paper already transform into real model. Sense of completion & Happiness is overwhelmed when we succeed to make it!

LED light is installed in our amphitheatre stage so that it give the beautiful lightning effect during night through the glass we designed at both side of the stage.

Finally, This come to the End Of the big project this semester. Let's take a look to the other amphitheatre stage models.
Awesome huh? ^ ^
