PROJECT 5: NEIGHBOURHOOD ELEMENT: EXISTING CONDITION & PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT

Creating sustainable and liveable neighbourhood area, every single element of neighbourhood planning like effective movement networks, appropriate size and locations of public spaces, facilities, amenities, services and the whole layout plan should be planned and designed holistically, because the real value of the neighbourhood lies in its people, and a good neighbourhood fosters a sense of belonging and safety.

For enhancing our understanding of basic elements and components of neighbourhood planning through our observation of the existing neighbourhood area, in project 5 we need to make a self-visit (in group) to the chosen area to observe and gather relevant information about the components or elements of the neighbourhood area. After Site Analysis, we need to draw the key plan, location plan and layout plan with its dimension, providing detail such as movement network, lot layout, public open space, public facilities and amenities, landscape and street furniture, sun path, prevailing wind and vegetation. Another plan we draw should include the proposed improvement for the site.

Siara 81 is chosen for our site because this area is not much developed enough, there are many improvement can be carry out in this site.

Site Analysis in progress~ Hey, wait, are you guys playing or doing work? o.O

 Finally, Project ACCOMPLISHED!!!

I felt sense of accomplishment in my heart. : )

We are rushing for this project after we come back from HBP Apartment stay in Batu Ferringhi. The Torturing Time begin!
For me, I have break my new record~

NO SLEEP TIME:

39 HOURS!

Self-torturing physically and mentally. Health is leaving me.

But I know, this is just the beginning~Once we choosing HBP, there is no turning back.

WE ARE HBP, WE STAY STRONG!

PROJECT 4: PRESENTATION DRAWING.

Presentation drawings, which consist both 2D drawings (e.g. plan, elevation, cross section & details) and 3D drawings (e.g. perspectives and axonometric projections) is one the most effective ways to communicate the design ideas and concept to the clients or audience. It is used by designers like architects, interior designers or even structural engineers to develop a design idea into a coherent proposal, to explain a scheme and to promote its merits.

In this project, we are required to produce a plan and elevations (front, right, left and rear) drawings of our wooden ComforTABLE CHAIR. This is to enhance students’ skills in communicating the ideas and presenting their design through a set of scaled 2D and 3D drawings.

I still can remember, I've learned the plan, elevation drawing during secondary school, Kemahiran Hidup class. So why should I afraid of ? just drawing a blueprint of my chair..... WAIT... chair???

 CHAIR???

THE CHAIR WE DONE IN PROJECT

3B????  DRAW ??????

WHAT THE!!

This Is torturing! We had suffer too much "pain" before when building that chair. Now we gonna to draw it out. We are so pity. T.T

However, this is a quite difficult challenge to us. Firstly we try to measure the length, width and the height before presentation drawing. This takes quite long time. The chair we done takes longer time than others, now this project is the same.

PROJECT 3B: OBJECT CONNECTION

All objects that man creates are either shapes or forms, and the creation involves various elements and principles of design. In built environment, the objects created can be both stand-alone or connected, and functional or non-functional; while the space produced can be both habitable or unhabitable. In Project 3B, we required to produce a structural model of a wooden L-shape seating object that combines a table and chair. The theme of that seating object is ‘UNITY’, but each group is free to choose their specific concept that is relevant to the stipulated theme. This is is to improve students’ ability in applying suitable elements and principles of design in producing a functional structure.

Design A chair? Wtf Is that? Feeling Ignorant while project 3B issued. >.< "

Winner's designed chair will be choose to place in HBP
but why asked us to design? Feeling ignorant because we are just first year student. >.<

But actually, after we done it all, indeed, this project was not as hard as we think. This is a good challenges of designing a small structure that is a result of a connection or combination of two or more object, at the same time could enhance our ability in designing a creative form of object and space with the understanding of human physiology, ergonomic and comfort factors based on basic technical knowledge.

This is just the beginning, we started to come up a crazy design. ^ . ^
Before we start to build our chair, we come out some concepts: Psychological effect, Optical Illusion, Shadow effect, and of cause the main key, Unity. However, shadow effect is failed to consider because the chair is placed under the roof (under shelter), so there is no shadow of the chair during the day. However, our concept, "Bone Marrow" & "Honey Comb" is used in design.

Construction completed! Yeah!! We suffer too much in this model-making as our model was the hardest to build among others! Our design are famous among HBP, everyone is coming to greet us, taking photograph because this is really a crazy design! Almost Spit blood while doing this. >.<
 THE UNI-BONE ~ UNITY WITH CONNECTION ~

Our design was inspired by bone structure which is strong and supportive. The site of the chair is located below the road level, so the chair is designed in attractive form to derive the people passing-by.

The concept "UNITY", is indicated by bone structure, which represent strong, sturdy and connected each other which represent unite, the main theme. The complex and complicated creating an optical illusion effect for people. Far from the design, it's looked complicated, doesn't look like a chair, this similar to out society which have various ethnic and religion with complex situation. When walking near to it, it's a chair. this represent our society will become unite and harmony and we are trying to close to each other to form a close relationship among us even we are in a multiracial and multicultural society.

Unity is strength, when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.
WHERE THERE IS UNITY, THERE IS ALWAYS VICTORY.
