PROJECT 3A: FREE FORM SCULPTURE

In This Project, we required to create an object of a free-from sculpture that can be made from any material, with the theme of the sculpture ‘HARMONY’. We free to choose our specific concept that is relevant to the stipulated theme. The purpose is to improve our ability in applying suitable elements and principles of design in producing a free-form object.

Dolphins are marine mammals closely related to whales and porpoises. Dolphins are often regarded as one of Earth's most intelligent animals, though it is hard to say just how intelligent.

Dolphin symbolize HARMONY. Most of the dolphin live in group in the ocean. Dolphins are not alone because most of time we will see a large group of dolphin swimming around us. Dolphins have a good interaction between their partner and "friends", so that's why dolphin, which act as symbol of HARMONY, was chosen. Dolphins like peace , showing various types of playful behavior, often including objects, self-made bubble rings, other dolphins or other animals.

The base of the sculpture have two human figure and one pair of dolphin "couple", there is a letter of "H" in it, meaning that interaction of human which indicate HARMONY. One dolphin, individual, no harmony, two dolphin, interaction and live together, Harmony emerged. Harmony is the important key in the living, either animal or human. 

When the model inversed in 180 degree, English alphabet will be seen, "JAZ", my nickname, which is read from right to left. I wish to put my name inside the sculpture because I hope and want to be an architect which highlight HARMONY in the future.

PROJECT 2: NATURAL & MAN-MADE STRUCTURE

The Second project issued, we need to find out the natural and man made structure on this earth to enhance our understanding of  basic elements and principles of design through observation of existing natural and man-made structures, creativity in presenting ideas selectively and graphically, nourishing our skills in creative thinking, observation, sketching, rendering, colouring, writing description and composing graphical images.

 

 

Is That look alike? Huh? ^ . ^

The Sketching showed a cat is lying on a tree. The cat was found in the corridor of the Desasiswa Restu. It got my attraction to follow it and take some photos on it. The cat was then running to the exterior of Desasiswa Restu and I keep following it. There was an idea in my mind, natural structure can be an animal and a plant, so why I don't take a photo of the cat with the tree? Therefore, I manage to let the cat lying on a tree and take a photo on it. Finally, an awesome photo emerged.

The reason I choose a cat and a tree for sketching due to the pattern on the surface of the tree is Significant for sketching because its shows the great pattern for an example of natural structure.Other than that, the cat is a small, usually furry, domesticated, and carnivorous mammal. Cats are strong, having flexible bodies, quick reflexes, sharp retractable claws, and teeth adapted to killing small prey.Cats can hear sounds too faint or too high in frequency, they can see in near darkness. Like most other mammals, cats have poorer color vision and a better sense of smell than humans.Those characteristic on a cat shows it is natural structure which is born by god.

 

Project 2B shows the front part of the Perpustakaan Hamzah Sendut 1. I choose this for my man-made structure project due to A library are considered as an important element of the activities of the institution. The Hamzah Sendut Library is just like a 5 STAR grade hotel because of its great design and perfection.

The exterior library design of the wing set asides a few plots for garden area surrounding the building to beautify and increase greenish view to the new landscape thus incorporated USM landscape theme as ‘Taman Ilmu’. we called for design, the first thing that come into mind is the flexibility, that need to be incorporated into the design to allow for later changes and different requirements in the future.

In addition, for its function, the library have grand entrance door to the building adjacent to car parking/ visitor drop off and pick up area in front of the stair to provide shelter from the weather such as rain or sunlight thus make it more eco-friendly .

There is no doubt that the Universiti Sains Malaysia has succeeded in putting up a highly aesthetically pleasing and functional library building, capable of serving its needs for the next two decades or more.

PROJECT 1: ME, MYSELF AND I

Studio's Journey begin with the 1st Project, Stewardship. In this project, we need to sketch our self-portrait, lettering personal background, description on 5 years later and the betterment of the built environment. Drawing wasn't the hardest part for me, but, the difficult part for me is lettering. Lettering architectural words is not easy because it require consistency in all of the words.

Also, we need to design our own personal logo. My logo is from my nickname "JAZ". J represent a human figure holding a pencil for architectural design, that's me, designing and erecting a house or a building, which indicated from letter "A". And letter "Z" represent zeal (passionate and enthusiast) until it can be support up a house or a building to be built perfectly.

Black symbolize colour of the hidden, the secretive and the unknown, creating an air of mystery. It's just similar to me. Black represent preparation for the unknown & challenges.

Gold is the color of success, achievement and triumph. Associated with abundance and prosperity, luxury and quality, prestige and sophistication, value and elegance, for planning and erecting a building.

Red symbolize the energy, passion and love in me. It's indicates that I'm ready to take action and be passion to what I'm going to do. Being brave and confident to fulfill my dream.

A GOOD UNIVERSITY - UNIVERSITY SAINS MALAYSIA

First time, We was going to the Tengku Hamzah Library, Indeed, the library is really awesome! Good view and scenery could be indicated on both exterior and interior of the library. It's a FIVE STAR Library in USM!

Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies. All of us are coursemate. 

We all are the Architect Team!

Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: burn the midnight oil together, this is the ideal life.

Good View also could be seen near the School of HBP. Really Awesome. USM is a good University!

IN UNIVERSITY, WHAT I WAS DOING?

My new hostelmates and new friends was waiting in HBP Drum.

Since I was small, I always being attention- attracted by building's models in shopping mall. Therefore, when I look into the models in the drum, the passionate makes me stand beside and look, taking photos for a long time.

While registeringour course, my friend have a specific emotion on his face. This makes all of us laugh loudly due to ridiculous. Hahaha! XD

After that, We have our 1st lecture, This lecture class was all about the introduction by the lecturer of School of Housing, Building And Planning. Everyone looked EMO. Lolz.

HBP classes is started. All of us pay attention very well during the classes.

1st day for Integrated Studio I Classes, project was given to us. We were doing our project slowly and patiently in the Reading Room of the Desasiswa.

READY FOR A NEW UNIVERSITY LIFE

Ready for the interview of Architecture course in University Sains Malaysia. Hmm, I seems damn smart right? XD

Appreciation to my interviewee should not be forgotten. Thanks For giving chance to let me enter USM and let me have a nice place to stay. Achitecture life is beginning!

During orientation weeks, all of us, the 1st year student was always need to walk a long distance to destination in USM, even formal attire dressing and under a hot sun. Honestly, this is really sucks! But however, this is also, and only one, a good experience that we ever have.

The "shout competition" in USM Stadium. All resident under same desasiswa have unite together and fight for the triumph, even in the rain.

MY WORKING LIFE

My working wasn't have salary a lot, but only one word can describe my job, that is....... COOL!

Varies and a lot of cars, Toyota, Honda, Mercedes, BMW.. etc. I have opportunity to drive all of them. :D

My Colleagues and friends, they are really lovely person I ever seen!

WHAT ABOUT ME.

This is Me. People call me Jaz. Jazz band but lack a letter "z". Just an ordinary guy.  Some of us were born free and others of us have to fight for it. Freedom is the reason behind everything I do and freedom is what drives me to blog, how to architecture and practice living an unconventional life.

 I have a beautiful family. Family is not an important thing. It's everything. The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege.
